The Road to MTGP was brought to Stoke on Trent Saturday 6th of July 2019 at Fiction Nightclub and what a night it was for Stoke Thai Boxing.
We had 7 of the lads out for this show and fighting in their hometown they wanted to make a statement and that’s what they did!
We came away with 4 Wins and 2 losses and a rescheduled fight for Jay Steele, unfortunately this fight couldn’t go ahead as Jay who fought Sam Brown on Champions Collide 28 days previously took loss by TKO and the medic would not let the fight go ahead. This was the right decision for Jay’s safety as a fighter and he’s already to get out again taking on Lee Whitfield. Jay will be defending his 85kg MAX KGP British Title on MTGP Birmingham 8th September.
Wez and Craig unfortunately didn’t get the wins but they sure came to fight, both had very tough opponents that are very well schooled.
Jack Beech put on a class performance dominating the rounds with head kicks which led to the stoppage and win. Dave Perkins showed how he is showing he belongs at his level taking on a very strong Matt Ball from Fighting fit. This was fight of the night for me as Matt is a beast but Dave manged to take the win with his strong knee and clinch game.
Jack Briggs stepped up to Pro Am against 82.5kg UK Ranked Number 7 Karl Beck beating him and should now enter rankings at number 6.
Lukas Chetwyn took the win under Pro K1 rules with a fight that had head kicks coming from everywhere
